During my master's studies, I designed a prototype application called 'Plants and...' for the topic of 'Plant-themed App Design Research.' This is the second prototype design for the research project. Unlike the professional style of 'Gewu,' in designing 'Plants and...,' I hope the application can bring a relaxing and healing experience like a real natural environment, and the 'content' should be more gently embedded to form a so-called 'natural field' design.
Awareness of the Problem
Apps frequently start from the home page filled with various information and features, which is an efficient design approach. I attempted to express a "natural atmosphere" in the application, using dynamic 3D animations of grassland swaying in the wind as the background and organizing plant-related content within linear, sketch-style icons hidden at the edges of the UI.
Through this design, I hope to briefly free users from the commonly encountered information anxiety and provide a bit of healing within the synchronized grassland landscape of the real world.
Functional Architecture
Emotional Function: I allocate most of the visual space to the creation of the "natural environment," eliminating text boxes and cards from the home page to truly emphasize the sensory experience.
Functional Function: Plants and... remains a platform related to plant content, where you can search, read, share visual and interactive media content related to plants.
Design Features
Subtle background animation: Constructed a 3D grassland model using Blender. Dynamic lighting and wind direction bring animated scenes into the app.
Color mode of real-world time progression, from night to day.
