Growth for those born in the 80s or 90s was accompanied by the birth of many new technologies, while at the same time witnessing the decline of many old media. Feeling both excited and nostalgic, the succession of new and old products has drawn a timeline in our collective memory. When mobile internet erupted, both magazines and web pages began to fade.

Integrating the common elements of physical printing such as cutting lines and registration marks with magazine layout styles, I designed a new concept for a personal website. I hope to achieve a brand new web interaction and Chinese typesetting style different from ordinary responsive websites.

  • Title and menu options: Replace the common "header+body+footer" three-part structure of web design with the magazine logo as the Home button and four interactive "text boxes" aligned for Chinese typography as navigation and menu.

  • Responsive magazine layout: Provide two layout schemes for wide and narrow screens at appropriate breakpoints. Maintain a comfortable magazine style with dynamic text boxes and image sizes.

  • Narrative structure: Present design and digital content in common magazine narrative formats like reportage and interviews.

  • Magazine concept: "Design HiKE" is a design-related hike. Each individual article will tell a design story like recording sights and experiences during a hike.
